10 Solid Reasons You Need A Blog

When you’re running a business, the last thing you want to have to think about is even more content and blogging that you need to come up with for your customers to be happy. It’s often the case that business leaders will outsource this type of work because coming up with the right content and blog that gains enough organic traffic is not always the easiest thing to do. You have to do more than you’re already doing if you want organic traffic hitting your site and it’s one of the biggest reasons that you need a blog. It’s not enough to just have a good website: you need to add blogging to your list of things to do and here are all of the reasons why.

1. It’s not going anywhere. Blogs are here to stay and the more that you know about content, the more you’ll see that it’s a beneficial thing to have. Blogging really isn't going anywhere at all and you have to step out of your comfort zone and embrace blogging for what it is.

2. It’s a great way to build and connect with your customers. You need to do so much more than Twitter and networking events to connect with customers. You need to be personable and down to earth in your interactions and blogging can help you to do that. With the right blogs and content, you’re going to be able to tell people all about what you can do and that’s what they need to hear from you.

3. You’ll find more clients. When people come across your blog they’ll make judgments about whether yours is the kind of business that they want to be involved in. If you do it right, this is going to be a game changer for you. So many businesses will chalk up some of their revenue to blogging related activities and you can get involved in that with a little help!

4. You will get so much more done. Blogging is something you can do no matter where you are. It doesn't take long and you can even jot down ideas for blogs on your commute (public transport, not driving!). You can get things done when you have blogs to get out there and more people will see your content and be interested. The key is volume - if you commit to building your blog you’ll be able to show off a little and prove that you know what you’re talking about!

5. You’ll learn to prioritise new things. Once you start writing a blog, you'll start looking at how you can add value to others and when you do this, you’re going to build a targeted pipeline to your business. You’ll have comments to reply to, emails to answer and social media to respond to because a blog can bring in all of this organic traffic to your website. This is what you’re hoping to achieve and why not!? You need to be able to build your website and get noticed and your blog will be a new priority for you.

6. You’re going to create. There is nothing better than the feeling of creating something of nothing. When you have a blog, you are using it to create something that you can offer to other people that you couldn't before. You will find that all press is good press so even if you get negative reviews initially, you can use it to learn.

7. Blogs will boost productivity. You’ll be shocked at how well your business can do when there’s a blog going! As your blog grows you’re going to feel far more productive day to day and if you get a chance to hire a team to help you with it, you’re going to see how quickly you can ensure that you are getting what you need from your blog, too. If your company currently sucks at advertising, you'll be pleased to know that a blog can be everything that you need to make it different.

8. You can measure your success. No matter how you define your success, blogging is going to track it in a way that you didn't expect. It can change the way that you do business and give you a whole new way of working. You get to measure your success in new ways and that can make all the difference to you.

9. You are going to be accountable. Blogging is going to ensure that you hold yourself accountable because everyone will be reading what you have to say. Some reader responses to your blogs may sound harsh sometimes but mostly, these are going to be necessary for you to hear.

10. Everyone else is going to be blogging. While you don't want to do everything because other people are, you really should blog if others are blogging. You might not realize it but all of your competition is going to be out there blogging and if you’re not, you’re going to be behind it! Whether you choose written blogs or you choose video blogs you should consider what the response will be from your audience. This is vital if you want people to care about what you have to say. Don't be afraid to vlog instead of writing a blog; it’s a new way to tell people what you have to say and it’s effective, too.

If you haven't tried blogging before, it’s time to go ahead and do it. You may as well give it a go and if it doesn't garner the traffic you were hoping for, then go another way and try something else. There are so many ways that you can say your piece — blogging is just one.
