Breaking Tradition: 5 Ways to Customise Your Wedding

Weddings tend to be entwined with tradition, with many couples getting married opting to do things in the way that they think is ‘correct.’ But it doesn’t have to be the case — your wedding can be anything you want it to be. As long as you ensure it’s being done in a way which is legally binding, everything else is completely up to you meaning you can have so much fun with it. Here are 5 ideas for breaking tradition and customising your wedding.

Ditch the Big White Dress

When you think about weddings, the first thing that probably springs to mind is a bride wearing a big white dress. And sure, this can be lovely but it’s very traditional and that might not be your style! Wear any outfit you’d like, it could be a super colourful ball gown or sparkly suit. It could be something totally unexpected or just your normal clothes that you feel comfortable in. You decide.

Go With an Unusual Cake

Don’t fancy a big white three tiered wedding cake? Go with something else instead. It could be made of cheese wheels, for example. You could have a brownie or donut tower or skip the cake entirely.

Write Your Own Vows

This is a fantastic way to make your wedding ultra personal, spend time in the months leading up to the wedding writing vows that are truly relevant and special to you and your partner.

Have Rings Specially Made

If you’re opting to exchange rings, don’t feel like you need to go with traditional plain wedding bands. You could choose something more unusual or even go to a jewellery making class where you can make each others rings for a special, personal touch.

Choose An Awesome Venue

You don’t have to choose a church, hotel or even a rustic barn as your wedding venue if you don’t want to! Think outside the box, your venue can be anywhere that’s special to you, or perhaps you want a place that will absolutely wow your guests and provide spectacular wedding pictures.
