What Are the Business Areas That Need More Funding?

During the pandemic, we have seen an uptick in all sorts of crime. It's mainly been a free for all among the cybercriminal experts of the world. We saw how they attacked the Colonial Oil company in America, and they demanded they were paid a ransom of at least $40,000 to get the pump to work again. Ransomware is just the tip of the iceberg. There are countless other ways that cybercriminals have been hunting down small businesses and squeezing every tear and cent out of them. Other areas of your business need funding too, because if you want to help one area you have to help another simultaneously. Let's take a look at how you can do this.

Invest In Training

They call it upskilling, but investing in training for your employees is just the normal thing to do now. It doesn’t matter if you outsource this training, it just needs to happen at least once a year. Skills and talents of an individual can take them far, but it's the prolonged investment of the employer in their employee's knowledge that really helps a company strive. So whether you have IT teams, marketing or risk teams, keep on investing in their knowledge. Take a look at the various courses you can send them on to improve their skills. Sometimes these courses will be online and they can do them in their own time, and others will be in person and online as a mix. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about taking their attention off their work as they can study in their own time.

Invest In Cybersecurity

As mentioned at the start of this topic, you have to invest in cybersecurity. The issue for many companies is, they don’t have the resources to build an in-house team of IT experts. They usually have one or two experts who have to spin multiple plates at once. Instead of doing this, you should invest in an IT Managed Service Provider who can monitor your network, maintain your IT framework and help to spot signs of trouble. This could be things like spotting when an employee has left themselves logged in but there is a lack of activity on their machine. When this goes on for hours and it poses an issue that only the monitoring team could pick up.

Invest In Comfort

One way to get your employees to pay attention for longer is to make the work environment more comfortable. This could mean you invest more in the seating of your staff, the desks or perhaps the quality of the air inside the office. It could even mean better catering with healthier options, fresh water every day at the water cooler and perhaps, betting shift patterns to keep them alert.

If you haven’t already invested in your teams’ cybersecurity capability, you need to start doing so now. Not to mention, in their training. Learning never stops and it helps staff to get better at their responsibilities.
