Before you lose your hair, you never really realise how important it is to your self image. It’s just there in the background, reliably attached to your scalp every day. Unfortunately, over time, it can start to fall out for one reason or another. And unless you know what’s going on, you’ll find it hard to stop. In this post, we take a look at some of the ways you can fight hair loss and keep your barnet looking youthful and lush.

Microneedling
Microneedling is a cosmetic technique that involves making thousands of tiny punctures in the skin. Technicians use a dermaroller, which is a tool that rolls across your face, studded with hundreds of needles. The needles prick the surface of the skin, causing all sorts of healing agents to rush to the surface and initiate repair that makes the skin look younger.
Interestingly, though, microneedling appears to work on hair follicles, too. It creates mild stress which, in some cases, can encourage hair to grow back when it was lost.
Laser Therapy
Another technique gaining ground is laser therapy. Clinicians are using this for all sorts of types of baldness, including regular alopecia, male pattern balding, and hair loss from chemotherapy. Lasers can also be used to help follicles repair after a hair transplant.
Lasers are effective in much the same way as microneedling. They cause mild stress to the hair follicles, encouraging them to repair themselves. Repeated treatment is often necessary over several months to achieve the desired effect.
Hair Transplants
Hair transplants are becoming more popular because of their effectiveness and how long they last. There are two types. One replaces hair follicles individually, and the other removes a segment of the scalp with hairs embedded in it, and transplants it to a location where you want new hair growth.
A hair transplant repair can improve your confidence, too. This is where trained specialists undo damage that can sometimes result from transplant treatments.
Overall, hair transplants last a long time. Once you’ve had one, it should remain in place for life.
Platelet-Rich Plasma
Another technique involves injecting platelet-rich plasma under the scalp in an effort to rejuvenate dormant follicles. The treatment works by first isolating beneficial factors from the blood and then injecting them where you want your hair to grow back. The combination of factors concentrated in a small area of the body leads to a reversal of age-related hair loss in the local area.
Most patients require treatment over several years to keep the hair thick and full. PRP takes place every three to six months, depending on the patient’s needs.
Herbs
Lastly, you may discover that your hair grows back if you consume herbs that cause the body to release follicle-stimulating hormone. For instance, Indian amla fruit is well-known for powerfully activating hair follicles and making hair darker and grow back thicker over time.
So, in summary, there are things that you can do about hair loss. The majority of them are cosmetic, though there are some lifestyle changes you can make as well.
